- Have your ID ready ahead of time. For a successful capture, use an ID that matches the name on your school course page.
- If you do not have an ID that matches the name, try changing your name in your course to match your ID or reach out to your exam manager for assistance. This will allow for a successful capture of your ID. This includes shortened names (William/Bill), Nicknames, and Surnames.
Using your mobile phone to complete ID verification
You may be able to complete authentication steps using the Honorlock Mobile Application. If you are not required to use a side-angle camera, you can complete the ID verification, payment, and workspace scan with your mobile phone. If you would prefer to use the camera on your computer, select the Continue on the computer option at the bottom of the message.
ID Verification instructions

The ID verification step will populate the ID verification instructions. Once you have reviewed the instructions, press continue.
A new window will open and you will see two options to take a photo of your ID. You can use your webcam to take a photo or upload a photo of your ID. Mobile phone users will see the option to upload an ID photo or scan ID Card. |
Capturing the ID image

If you select to take a photo of your ID with the webcam, hold your ID up to the webcam to fit within the outline on the screen and click the Take Photo button. If the image is too blurry or the name is not clear in the photo, you will see the verification failed message. You can try again or select the back button to select a different option. Mobile phone users will align their ID within the box and take the photo. |

When you select upload photo on the computer, a new screen will open providing the option to scan a QR code on your phone, take a photo of your ID or upload a photo of your ID from your computer. Select the option you would like to use to upload the image of your ID into the exam session. Once the photo has been uploaded via the QR code, computer upload or photo retake, you will see the verification in progress.

Once the ID has successfully been uploaded into the exam session, you will receive a success message and will continue to the next authentication step. Before you move on to the next authentication step, you will be reminded to remove your phone from the testing environment. |

Troubleshooting ID Verification

Verification Failed Message Resolution: Ensure your name on the ID matches the name listed for the course. Nicknames, preferred names, or name changes that do not match will receive the verification failed message. This image is of your ID, not your face photo. Hold the ID up to the camera and take the photo. |

***It should be noted that Samsung phone users who use the built-in Samsung browser will have issues with uploading. Samsung users switching to the standard Chrome browser will allow the ID upload feature to upload the photo as intended.***
