Navigating A Session in the Session Viewer

1 min. readlast update: 05.20.2026

The Session Viewer includes two ways to quickly navigate a session: a Session Windows strip that shows the phases of a session, and Timeline Segments that compress long stretches of inactivity.

Using the Session Windows strip

The Session Windows strip runs across the timeline. It shows each phase of the session as a colored segment — for example, the in-exam window and authentication.

Hover over any segment to see:

  • The name of the window

  • How long the window lasted

  • The real-time range it covers

Use the strip to see what happened across the session at a glance.  For example, how much time the test taker spent in authentication, or where the in-exam window begins before reviewing flagged events.

Using Timeline Segments

When a session contains long stretches of inactivity, the Session Viewer compresses those gaps into a labeled marker on the timeline. Playback and event timestamps stay in sync with the compressed timeline.
