Create a Third Party ExamThrough Honorlock in your primary Learning Management System, you have the option to offer proctored exams given in numerous third-party platforms such as Pearson MyMathLab, McGraw-Hill Connect, and WebAssign. Honorlock Access CodesWhen Honorlock is enabled for an assessment, Honorlock automatically generates an exam password or access code. If you have already created a password/access code for your exam, Honorlock will override your password/access code with a new one. The password we generate prevents your students from accessing the assessment without being proctored. Students will not need the Honorlock generated password/access code to enter their exams. Once they finish the Honorlock authentication process, the password will automatically plug in behind the scenes.

How to Troubleshoot the “User Already Exists” Error MessageOnce an instructor launches the Honorlock LTI for the first time within their LMS, the email address associated with the user will be logged. Due to some faculty having multiple accounts or utilizing multiple LMS instances in order to access Honorlock, some users may experience an error message after launching the LTI from a secondary account tied to the same email address. To resolve this issue and as a best practice, we recommend modifying the email address that will be used to create the secondary account.

How to Troubleshoot the "State not Found" Error MessageWhen checking the LTI in your Learning Management System (LMS), you may receive a “State not Found” Error Message. This error message may be related to the cookies on your browser. To resolve this issue, we recommend checking your cookies and caches are cleared. Follow the steps below: 1) Enter in the url chrome://settings/ into your address bar at the top of your Chrome browser. 2) Look for the “Privacy and Security” section and then click “Clear browsing data.

Accommodations with HonorlockWhen enabling Honorlock for your assessment, you may need to provide specific accommodations to certain exam takers. The Accommodations section (as shown below) should be used and will only be visible to Honorlock proctors and support staff. Students will not be able to see the accommodations set for them and if necessary, should be alerted of their accommodations via email or other forms of communication. Please note that only accommodations that relate to proctoring or authentication (Student Photo, ID Verification, Room Scan) should be listed here.

Simulated Exam toggleThe Simulated Exam toggle is a great option to allow you to customize a practice exam to allow students to familiarize themselves with Honorlock and its features/functionality prior to taking a high stakes assessment. The Simulated Exam toggle appears to be a high stakes assessment to your students - it gives the appearance that students are being proctored, when they are not. You’ll have a record that the students completed the assessment.

Allowing Access to Documents during a Proctored ExamThere may be times when administering an exam, an exam taker needs access to different documents and resources. Honorlock allows you as an exam admin, the ability to allow access that falls within your exam guidelines, while still proctoring the exam. The following are ways to do so: Microsoft Suite items: We recommend loading your documents into your Google Drive and allowing that URL in the Student Proctoring Settings, under Configuration: Allowed URLs.
